Create A Vision Board For Success!
Create a Vision Board

Vision boards aren’t just a collage of images that you’ve thrown together because they’re pretty. Well, they can be, but the whole point is that you create a vision board to inspire, motivate and work towards building the life that you intend to live.

Mistakes on a Vision Board

Sometimes, when creating a vision board, we can make easy mistakes that we don’t realise can affect the way our brain works when we focus on it.

Too Much Writing

Some people like to have lots of writing on their vision board. Okay, fine, great! If that’s what you want.

But our brains are much more susceptible to colours, images and short snappy writing. Our brains don’t like to work too hard and so may back away from long paragraphs or writing that is too difficult to read.

So keep any writing you include short, easy to identify and meaningful!

Too Much Colour

Just as we can get confused when we’re bombarded with words, too much colour can get confusing too.

You want your vision board to be attractive to you, so pick a colour scheme and use a photo editor or canva to edit some of your images so they fit great together.

Too Much Content

We can get a bit carried away with our creativity, especially when our minds are on a roll and we are excited to envision the future we want to make for ourselves.

But while you’re engaging in this process, you want to have an idea of how many different things you want to include on your vision board. Otherwise, when you’re choosing where to display it, you may not be able to see the images because you’ve tried to cram too much onto it!

Not Adjusting Your Vision Board

As you progress through life and tick off the things on your life’s to-do list, you must adjust your vision board as you go.

Yeah, it’s great that you can cross them off. But this is a vision board. It’s designed to help you to manifest, inspire and strive towards your goals. Not remind you of the goals you’ve already completed.

So as you begin to achieve all of these things, make some edits and move things around as you progress.

Also, as time goes on, your desires in life may change and so you must change your vision board to align with these new wants that pop up.

Quick Top Tips

Display Somewhere You’ll See it Often

There’s no point in creating a beautiful vision board if you’re going to hide it or put it somewhere you’ll rarely see it.

I like the idea of putting your vision board as your background or lock screen on your laptop or computer. You may not spend loads of time staring at it but every time you turn the screen on, it’ll be the first thing you see before you browse the web.

Display it on your door, on the wall above your desk or decorate the outside of a notebook you use all the time for that little bit of inspiration in everything you do.

Know What You’re Aiming For

Think about why you want to create a vision board? What do you want to accomplish? What can you put on your vision board that will motivate you?

If there are many different parts of your life you want to work on, then narrow it down and focus on the ones you desire most or want to have soonest.

Putting too much on your board is only going to confuse you. Choose a maximum of 3 different visions for your board and stick to them for the time being. These wants may change and evolve or you might want to replace them with something else. They may even be something you manifest into your life sooner than you expect so you can take it off and add something else to your board.

Don’t confuse yourself with too many things. Be specific with your intentions and show that in your designs.

Knowing, or at least having an idea of, what you want most in life will help you to search for some content to include on your vision board.

If you don’t have any big desires, then you won’t be customising your vision board to you. So have an idea of what you’re aiming for!

Make Your Vision Board Specific To You

When you know what you’re aiming for then you must design your vision board and avoid the steps I mentioned above.

Every image, quote and drawing you include must mean something to you and help you to progress on your journey ahead. You don’t just want to throw anything on there because it vaguely links to one of your visions.

Be picky with what you use and design it in a way that speaks to you. If you don’t, your vision board won’t have the desired effect.

Make it Positive!

It sounds very obvious but sometimes, you can really mess this part up.

If what you want most in life is a loving partner but all you’ve had are bad relationships and feel a little bit unlucky with love, then it can be hard to fill a vision board full of love without some sadness attached.

But what you can do is include positivity in every part of your vision board. Make everything point towards love and certainty that you’re going to find love and spend your life with someone who will make you happy.

Make sure it’s full of positivity, brightness, excitement and potential!

Mix Up Text & Images

This is more so that your vision board looks great but including both text and images to change up your vision board can inspire you in many different ways.

Some days you’ll want to focus more on the images to help your imagination and other days you’ll be more into the text you’ve included and the meaning behind the words you’ve chosen.

Include Quotes, Affirmations & Feel Good Sayings

Break up all of your images with some of your favourite mantras. Remind yourself that you’re on your way towards your goals. Change up the quote every week or write a song that relates to your vision board on there so you can play it as you’re envisioning your future life.

Tweak As You Go

If this is the first time you’ve created a vision board, then you may have piled everything into it, given it your all and spent many precious moments working on it.

Yes, you want to spend time making it look attractive and appealing, but you don’t want to get too carried away with the design as you are bound to tweak it as you go.

As I said earlier, there are things that will gradually become a reality for you so you can remove and replace them with new desires.

As we grow, our needs and wants change and life always likes to hit us with surprises, whether we welcome them or not, so we must have the capacity to adjust and change. We must be willing to tweak ourselves and our board as we go.

Have Fun With Your Vision Board!

And lastly, have fun!

Creating a vision board should be a fun thing to do, to get you excited by the potential that your future holds. So don’t make it a chore or boring by brainstorming, planning or thinking too hard about it.

At the end of the day, your vision board is there to inspire you to work for a life that you could live someday. So make your dreams as big and bold as you like and don’t be afraid to set those big goals!

Creating a Work Life Balance

What is a work life balance?  I’m not sure there’s a definition as everyone’s perspective of ‘balance’ is varied.  To me, creating a work life balance means that both aspects run smoothly and don’t interfere with each other too much. But as I’ve been researching and...
